NO TO THE AUSTERITY PARTIES – Public meeting on Saturday 28 June, 2.30 – 4.30 p.m. Barton Community Centre, 199 Barton Street Gloucester
Miliband wants to stop benefits to 18-21 year olds unless they “skill up”, he’s spoken in favour of workfare-style jobs and wants to toughen things up to favour the “strivers”. He has opposed public sector strikes on pensions and pay. And Labour will not be re-nationalising anything. So why do the unions continue to back Labour – does it make any sense to wait till May 2015 – what can we expect from OneNationLabour? People are sick of millionaire politicians who share the same policies. This is why UKIP was able to win votes among the working class. And what will the consequences of the other parties “speaking out more” on migration be?
What can be done to fight cuts and austerity?
How can we support striking unions and build a real socialist alternative to pro-business parties?
How could a new workers party be built?
We will be discussing this challenge on Saturday
