The Trade Union and Socialist Coalition in Gloucestershire has launched its election campaign. TUSC will give voters the opportunity to vote against austerity and for candidates who will stand up for the 99% and not the millionaires.
Sue Powell, standing for MP in Gloucester, will be a ‘Workers MP on a Workers Wage’, taking only the average wage, donating the rest to working class causes.
Sue has been a leading member of Cheltenham & Gloucester against the Cuts and campaigns opposing NHS cuts and privatisation including the protests against the cuts to opening hours of Cheltenham General A&E.
Sue said; “Ordinary working people have had enough. We are not prepared to pay for the crisis caused by the bankers and their failed capitalist system. We demand;
A £10 an hour minimum wage now and an end to zero hour contracts
An end to privatisation and cuts in public services and a fully funded publically run NHS
Nationalisation of public transport, water and energy companies and other privatised public services
No to Academies and Free Schools, an end to tuition fees and grants for higher education
A massive expansion in affordable public housing and rent controls
Taxation of the super-rich
A vote for TUSC is a vote for a real alternative to the establishment parties”
TUSC Gloucestershire is also standing for local Councils in Stroud, Gloucester, Forest of Dean and Tewkesbury.
TUSC nationally is standing in 120 constituencies and standing in over 500 council wards.
